Position Purpose 

The Virtual Paralegal will work directly with the legal support staff and attorneys on tasks including, but not limited to, research, drafting, fact-finding projects, and assisting clients. Previous experience in family-based or humanitarian immigration preferred.  Our caseload is constantly growing, so they will have excellent organizational skills, have experience drafting cover letters and other documents, and have a passion to help as many undocumented immigrants legalize as possible. 

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST  (40 weekly hours)
Payrate: 8.50USD/hr

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities 

  • Perform legal, factual research and analyze case documents 

  • Review all FBI background check requests 

  • Review state police clearance records and FOIA records 

  • Coordinate with document collectors to communicate with clients, to obtain the documents necessary to present their case. 

  • Draft cover letters, RFE responses, and other documents 

  • Oversee case flow for assigned cases and ensure everyone's work is completed promptly 

  • Provide strategic insight and additional thoughts on case process

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities 

  • Background in legal assistance or immigration law is a plus 

  • Experience as an attorney or as a paralegal strongly preferred 

  • Experience working with US immigration a huge plus! 

  • Experience in using legal database software 

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and organization skills 

  • Document Management 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bilingual (Spanish English) C1 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software 

  • Associate’s degree or similar experience
