The Supervising Immigration Court Attorney will have the opportunity to help establish and lead a growing court program so we can better serve our nationwide client base of primarily Spanish-speaking undocumented immigrants.  The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate with at least 5 years of experience independently representing clients in immigration court.  The right individual will also have experience managing and motivating a team of attorneys and legal support staff in a positive and collaborative team environment. 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Key stakeholder in helping to establishing a high-volume, nationwide court practice and responsible for managing a team of attorneys and legal support staff to execute practice plan
  • Work with our operationally focused attorneys and staff to create procedures, processes, and best practices for immigration court team
  • Manage and supervise the immigration court team, including attorneys and paralegals
    • Set goals and manage team workloads
    • Oversee the development of templates for legal briefs and drafts to use as a foundation for immigration court filings
    • Train and supervise to ensure team follows procedures and best practices
    • Collects and reports team data, progress, and needs to legal team leadership
    • Represent clients in removal proceedings
  • Draft and edit legal documents
  • Develop and maintain network of contract attorneys to provide coverage across the country
  • Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, administrative, and case law changes.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of a state bar.
  • 5+ years of experience in immigration court and removal proceedings and in filing with EOIR
  • 2+ years of managing others
  • Continued improvement mindset, with an innovative approach to analyzing and improving operations and processes

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Passion for changing as many lives as possible.
  • Some travel may be required to various offices to train and supervise team
